Metato House
A Versilia Homes project in the hills above Camaiore
The house we found
Metato House sits in a small hillside village above Camaiore, surrounded by woodland and overlooking the Versilia landscape.
We were drawn to the authenticity of the house: its stone walls, original proportions, timber structure and connection to the village.
At the same time, the interiors felt fragmented and several areas required significant work.

The vision
We wanted to preserve what gave the house its character while making it calmer, more coherent and better suited to contemporary living.
Rather than treating architecture, interiors and furnishing as separate decisions, we developed one overall direction for the house — from spatial planning and materials to lighting, furniture and smaller details.
The restoration
The project began by identifying what should be preserved, what needed to change and where a few carefully considered interventions could make the biggest difference.
Original beams and stone were kept and given room to be seen; new elements were added quietly around them.

Materiality and detail
Natural materials and a restrained palette, chosen to complement the existing architecture rather than compete with it.
Collected rather than decorated.

The finished house

The Versilia Homes approach
We look for properties with character and unrealised potential, then bring together restoration, interiors, local expertise and a clear sense of place to create one coherent home.
Not more intervention than necessary. The right intervention, in the right place.
